This film series explores many aspects of our society. To rethink what is possible in our world, we need to consider what kind of world we want to live in. Although we refer to it as a civilization, it is anything but civilized. Visions of global unity & fellowship have long inspired humanity, yet the social arrangements up to the present have largely failed to produce a peaceful and productive world. While we appear to be technically advanced, our values and behaviors are not. The possibility of an optimistic future is in stark contrast to our current social, economic, and environmental dilemmas. The Choice Is Ours includes interviews with notable scientists, media professionals, authors, and other thinkers exploring the difficulties we face.

Part I provides an introduction and overview of cultural & environmental conditions that are untenable for a sustainable world civilization. It explores the determinants of behavior to dispel the myth of “human nature” while demonstrating how environment shapes behavior. The science of behavior is an important – yet largely missing – ingredient in our culture.

Part II questions the values, behaviors, and consequences of our social structures, and illustrates how our global monetary system is obsolete and increasingly insufficient to meet the needs of most people. Critical consideration of the banking, media, and criminal justice systems reveals these institutions for what they really are: tools of social control managed by the established political and economic elite. If we stay the present course, the familiar cycles of crime, economic booms & busts, war, and further environmental destruction are inevitable.

Part III explains the methods and potential of science. It proposes solutions that we can apply at present to eliminate the use of non-renewable sources of energy. It depicts the vision of The Venus Project to build an entirely new world from the ground up, a “redesign of the culture”, where all enjoy a high standard of living, free of servitude and debt, while also protecting the environment.

Part IV explains how it is not just architecture and a social structure that is in desperate need of change, but our values which have been handed down from centuries ago. They too need to be updated to our technological age, which has the potential to eliminate our scarcity-driven societies of today. Our problems are mostly of our own making, but we can still turn things around before the point of no return. It’s not too late for an optimistic outlook on the fantastic possibilities that lie before us.

*special thanks also to Alexander “Obraz” … who created the many 2d motion depictions (plus the sound fx!) of concepts such as the “hamburgers and fried chicken” segment and many others which are Alexander’s inimitable work style and attention to details where we needed very specific illustrations of key points.

The Venus Project proposes an alternative vision of what the future can be if we apply what we already know in order to achieve a sustainable new world civilization. It calls for a straightforward redesign of our culture in which the age-old inadequacies of war, poverty, hunger, debt and unnecessary human suffering are viewed not only as avoidable but as totally unacceptable. Anything less will result in a continuation of the same catalog of problems inherent in today’s world.

  1. take it with a grain of salt but in the future i feel that most will not believe easily that in the past… like in 2017 people thought that the first parents had no parents… that seems about as scientifically impossible as it gets. of course there is a purpose and a creator. but, that is not mainstream yet now is it. someone qualified in that department will show up… that is the most sensitive area of living and the most centrally motivational so our awareness which has been essentially co-opted by an invisible liar, will arrive there at the final motion of our original parent. our desire to make love as it is called, may be purely chemical, but what is a thought ? are we to believe there is no reality in our thinking as well ? the thoughts that have no substance ? yes ? or is it that our thoughts actually are the origin of all that we do in our lives. and therefore that our existence started in the same way… as thinking on the part of someone that CAN explain the universe. of course we are not the creators of our own selves or anyone from scratch but we certainly do co-create… okay so who is the other half in the "co" ? are they of less knowledge like a chemical or maybe of more knowledge as one that could create us using their thinking only and not a body. just reflecting… i have no clue either mostly.

  2. Most nay sayers are usually very intelligent people. It is so sad when all that acquired knowledge becomes a tool that works exactly the opposite from what knowledge suppose to be. They fall victim to 'intelligent trap'. Most of the time without them knowing so. That's the reason why despite swarms of people with PHD's, with all the resource available, all information available on their fingertips, nothing is achieved. In comparison, people like Nikola Tesla, Ford, and other innovators are changing the world despite limitation on education, information n resource and surrounded by negative environment.

In this age of accelerated exponential growth of technology, where experience can become liability and PHD's can become obstacle to growth, the mind needs to be nurtured to creatively imagine new possibility, method and solution. Unconventional thinking and outlandishness are the way forward!

Mr Jacques Fresco and Venus Project team,

Kudos! Please continue to accelerate towards the future and keep us inspired and motivated! May the force be with you.

  3. A TECHNOCRATE Society is no answer..

Every day more and more people are joining in and realising their dream
“ANASTASIA, THE RINGING CEDARS” Book series by Vladimir Megré. Please, PLEASE!

I’m simply looking for resonance in like minded individuals. I want to see if
the Dachnik/gardener a Kins Domain, Eco village concept resonates with YOU as
strongly as it resonates in me. That is where I’m going what I want to
accomplish with to found an 80 + hectare Eco-village here in South Africa. I’m
looking for individuals that resonates with this concept…

  4. Don't get me wrong. All looks good. But what happens when someone commits a murder? People will still get jealous over men/women regardless of money. Who polices that? What happens when people naturally get bored and want more out of life than a government controlling everything? What happens to people who enjoy taking drugs? Drugs will still have the same effects on the body and mind. People will still want, make and take them. What happens when someone decides they want MORE than everyone else and decides to overthrow what's happening? Who stops them? What happens with over population? Do the AI controlling everything casually kill enough of the population to keep it self-sustaining? What would be the motivating purpose of writing a story or making a movie if there is no reward? The human psyche and endorphins are heavily based on a reward system. I think everyone can agree everyone wants peace and happiness, but there are so many oversights in this theory. I'd love to hear your feedback, this is just my opinion.

  5. I loved it, and I will do my research into this. But I am really missing a women's point of view here. What about the silent war going on against women? Yes, a new sustainable economic system will better women's situation greatly, because capitalism makes it too easy to exploit already marginalized groups (here: women). But let's not forget the reason why women are one of the biggest losers in the current economic system: misogyny. How will we tackle that? In this new system, will men's violence against women end? Will men stop raping, beating up and killing women which more than not happens in a familiar environment?

  6. The United States has so many people in prisons because we have a more culturally diverse populous. We cannot bring in massive amounts of people from the third world and expect them to understand our first world way of life. China has a much more homogeneous population and therefore less criminals.

  7. I cant wait to live like this. We must convince the world that this is the best for future of mankind and earth. this way of living goes align with our nature 100%. Lets spread the message, as soon as possible.

  8. the big question is when it will start…do we have to wait until the war ends everywhere in the world? or until the monetary system collapse? and what are we going to do about population growth in the venus project? if there is water, food and good a good life for everyone the nrs would go up and become unsustainable… even with the current system it will cause a major war for water and clean air and food… maybe that would be the starting point for the venus project because humans usually only change/adapt if they are forced too,but the monetary system as to collapse at the same time so that humanity gets a reset,if not the wealthy are going to start charging for the air we breath(now they pay to pollute)…
